After the extended summer we had this year, it was a refreshing change of pace to find ourselves at Idlewild and Storybook Forest this year for Hallowboo! One of our favorite places to take kids of any age did not disappoint with most of the rides open, the mid-way was going strong and the decorations were right on target.
It did start cold and dreary but when you are taking a six-year-old through their first visit to the park and on top of that making it a celebration of Halloween it is very easy to get warm on a moments notice. We rode every ride, we ate (Auntie Anne’s pretzels) a quick bite, We watched Daniel Tiger’s Grr-ific Day show and played in the Jumpin’ Jungle. All that topped off with a walk through Storybook Forest trick-or treating with the various characters, it was a great way to start the fall season.
When we first arrived there were only about fifty or so people at the park but that changed as the day warmed up a bit. The park quickly filled with the sounds and sights of families having fun. Most of the kids were wearing costumes as well as some of the parents and grandparents. We stayed for about 4 hours and had a ton of fun. A brisk day in the park full of fun, rides and laughter.
A quick warning: All of the events are outside and if it stays chilly and raining wear appropriate clothing.
